David & Jason- Engagement Session

Two great guys—- and a wonderful engagement session that took place recently (as evidenced by the tulips!)

Their Big Day happens in June, we eagerly await their celebration!

DIY Bride—– A Happy Word

It has been said by some in the wedding world that the DIY Bride is a dirty word……. a kitchy phrase that has perhaps been influenced by things that can contaminate the field as it were.

Here at Bobbi Brinkman Photography we DO NOT feel that having DIY elements in a wedding are anything but wonderful. Within a few guidelines of course!  {Remember a couple of years ago when we talked about the bride that stuffed little monogrammed sachets with dryer lint??? Yeah… like that. Not so good!}

DIY means of course, Do It Yourself…. and for many brides doing things themselves has nothing to do with cutting costs…. or cutting corners. It means that they embrace having elements and details of their wedding that are completely personal and filled with meaning—– the things that they would be missing if they merely purchased items or had them made at any cost.

Wonderful BBP wedding couple Danielle and Mike recently held a DIY workshop in their home to happy friends and family. An excellent evening of DIY’ing, good food and cocktails started with a hug from Groom to Be Mike at the front door.

This was the sign that welcomed participants—— so cute!

SO detailed (note the gray chevron paper and the coral accents!)

There were several tables and workstations in the house dedicated to a particular project. Each table was covered for protection and there was a cute matching note giving details how to accomplish a task. The projects for the evening were candy separation by color, painting and decoupaging picture frames and monograms, replacing wine bottle labels with custom labels, color coordinated floss tying and stuffing wedding invitations for the mail and lastly to make lanterns from sheet metal.

The very cool lanterns will all get a top coat of black paint, I can’t wait to show you how great they will look unified by color.

Much fun was had by all!

Whatever your wedding plans are, don’t be afraid to do as much or as little DIY inspired projects as you would like. Weddings should reflect the bride and groom, be filled with fun and personality and all of the things that are unique to the couple.

We can assure you that come this June, “THIS” wedding will not only be beautiful but will be uniquely Danielle & Mike! Gorgeous from first to last!
