It is 2020. And we’re in the middle of a pandemic. BUT– love isn’t cancelled and this intimate St. Simons Island wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful. (Or with a more wonderful couple or family for that matter!)
Courtney + Patrick said their vows in the beautiful Lovely Lane Chapel. On the stunning grounds of Epworth by the Sea, on St. Simons Island, this historic chapel is a hidden gem.
Surrounded by 15 family members the couple enjoyed a morning wedding on a day that Mother Nature surely made special! While warm, it was sunny and beautiful!
We think First Looks are always special, and theirs was no different, plus—- the grounds at Epworth by the Sea! It’s almost impossible to be more gorgeous or more quintessentially southern with the sunlight filtering through the spanish moss!
The inside of the Lovely Lane Chapel is something to behold and every tourist always hopes to find the doors open so they can take a peek. Formally named St. James Union Chapel, it was built by Norman W. Dodge in 1880. Repaired following a hurricane in 1897, the chapel was deconsecrated in 1911 to be used as a recreation center, and was re-consecrated in 1949 after the Methodists purchased the property. Today it stands in all it’s glory, and yes tourists, if you’re very lucky you might find the groundskeeper around who might let you stick your head in the door!
After heading down the aisle after exchanging vows, Courtney + Patrick met with the family outside for family photos. Our favorite photo of that time of the day just might be the one that follows. It’s definitely among our fave wedding day photos of all time if the truth be told! What do you think?
The joke was that Patrick was not going to be the favorite Uncle any longer! (Bet Christmas gifts are going to have to be extra special this year!) And the other kids looking on? Oh— just the best!
After the family photos were taken, and good laughs had by all— the newlyweds and their families headed off to Courtney’s parents house for great food and champagne, and more laughter.
We loved the cakes for their delicious personalities—- just like the cute peach Coco & Patch cookies!
As evening approached, Courtney + Patrick took their first walk on the beach as newlyweds, watching sunset approach on St. Simons Island is always a special time, but much more special that day.
Courtney, Patrick and your families— thank you for the honor of sharing your special day and capturing those memories for you and for future generations! We know that your lives together will be full of family, of love, of laughter and much joy! Cheers!
