Loren & Dan were wonderful to work with (they’re dog people after all!) and even through a worldwide pandemic, and uncertainty, and a reschedule of their wedding, when the day finally came to say I DO…………… they did.
For their ceremony and reception, it had been decided to have a King & Prince Wedding on St. Simons Island pretty early on. The King and Prince is always a favorite of ours, their staff is wonderful to work with, being part of the wedding day team there can always be counted on to be a privilege.
The King and Prince Club opened as a seaside dance club in 1935. Six years later, on July 2, 1941, the main hotel building opened to the public as the King and Prince Hotel and was immediately praised for its modern features and magnificent ocean views.
During World War II, the hotel served as a naval coast-watching and training facility, reopening in 1947 to resume its popularity as a favorite island resort with its gracious Mediterranean architecture. The hotel enjoyed extensive renovation and expansions in 1972 and again in 1983, becoming a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America in 1996. In 2003, the Resort’s cherished core–the historic main building–underwent a stunning restoration and enhancement project, resulting in 57 new guest rooms and signaling a new era in the guest experience. In 2005, the Resort was named to the National Register of Historic Places. (Wikipedia)
Loren and Dan had been together for 8 years prior to their wedding. We asked about their proposal which just happened to be on “Christmas day, at our home I was cleaning up wrapping paper. We both started crying!! Dan wanted to see my reaction and I covered my face with my hands.”
If time and money were no object, what would you do as a couple (and why?) Like many couples their answer was to “Travel and play Golf!”
Their ceremony was officiated by Rev. Steven Schulte, and of course at the end of their I Do’s, they obliged with a smiling selfie! He’s famous for them (and we do love us some Rev. Steve!)
One of our favorite questions to ask our couples is –What famous person (living or dead) do you wish you could invite to your wedding and why? Loren and Dan answered “Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters to party and play at our wedding!” Which sounds like a solid plan to us!
It’s always so much fun to watch guests sign their best wishes to the happy couple. Some really lean into it, some dash off a quick scribble, and some use their best penmanship to offer congratulations. Especially in 2020, the assembled guests at weddings have tended to be closer friends, or family because of regulations or traveling.
Sweet Luncheonette provided the fantastic cupcakes for Loren & Dan’s wedding, and the perk was that Stephanie provided us with our very own go box! (Her cupcakes are DIVINE, and she’s a wonderful person to boot!)
Thanks for the honor of capturing your special day with Images from the Heart Loren + Dan! We wish you all the happiness your hearts (and the paws in your life) can hold!
