It was a (partially) rainy wedding day for Sadie + Johnny’s Village Creek Landing Wedding on St. Simons Island. But a rainy day didn’t stop the joy, the love, or all the happy feels! Like so many couples in 2020 their wedding had been postponed, and there had been no shortage of stress and worry and frustration. But when their big day came, their smiles provided all of the warmth and shine needed!
Village Creek Landing is an exceptionally beautiful location on St. Simons Island with stunning views of the marsh, St. Simons Island, and Sea Island beyond. You’re always blessed with views of happy kayakers, boats, canoes, and wildlife of all varieties! A Village Creek Landing Wedding on St. Simons Island might be right for you if you like rustic outdoor charm or want to feel close to nature.
Sadie and Johnny met in 2001 and had been engaged for 3 years before they said I Do. They got engaged when they were staying in a lake cottage on Green Lake, WI— you can see the appeal for them to celebrate at Village Creek Landing right? They also like to ride dirt roads together and also to canoe, camp, boat, and grill out so it was the perfect fit!
That my friends— is attitude! 🙂
A constant in the wedding world are the little girls who are either flower girls or close to the couple who embrace this time as something magical. Their excitement and dreamy joy adds to the wedding day happiness of everyone around them.
Stepping out onto the grounds of Village Creek Landing the happy couple are joined with friends and family.
We asked what Sadie and Johnny especially love about the other and Sadie shared “I think we both love each other for the kindness we see in each other, Johnny also smells really great!”
In case that was ‘too sweet’, she adds that “Lol, Johnny is crazy when I forget things and he drives me crazy when he falls asleep on the couch.”
They are passionate about “living as well and right as we can in today’s world- the ability to live on our farm and one day possibly make a living just doing that drives us.” Their Village Creek Landing Wedding here on St. Simons Island reflected every bit of that philosophy!
When asked who (living or dead) they would invite to the wedding they said “Hands down- we would invite Chuck Norris! Particularly Chuck as Walker Texas Ranger… long story but Johnny’s dad and my two children live in our household and Walker Texas Ranger is often on the TV… it spans all generations and teaches great values of right and wrong so needless to say Walker is a legend around our house:).”
A firepit, oysters to shuck with the personalized oyster knives, and plenty of laughter, spirits, and good food, the evening was exactly what Sadie and Johnny wanted for their wedding day. When the rain moved in everyone took cover and waited for the skies to clear.
Laughter was the order of the evening, along with toasts and good cheer with their assembled crew.
Sadie and Johnny’s first dance was choreographed to “Warm Love” by Van Morrison. They danced on the rain slicked planks under the skies, with a few sprinkles — all for good luck– surrounded them.
